They come in a few different variants. I had to choose carefully to get
the tall and narrow ones, so as to be able to fit two in my fridge. Mine
are 63 cm tall, with a diameter of 21 cm. others can be somewhat fatter
and lower. Not sure what types are available from where...

Like I humorously pointed out, the requirements keep growing. This is
what I have now:
  - 6kg CO2 bottle
  - Co2 regulator with (at least one) meter
  - Fridge to keep two kegs
  - "Tower" on top of it, with two taps
  - connectors for kegs to taps
  - 1 connector for CO2
  - Some tubing
You can start without a proper tap, but then you need a "picnic" tap. It
is just a beer connector, 20cm tube, and a simple tap at the end.

No need to. When ever my beer starts to look a bit flat, I give it a
Pfffft of CO2, turn it off, and check the pressure

No idea about the small ones. I have heard that a 6kg bottle lasts for
about a lifetime in normal use.

Yes it is. You need a "counter-pressure filler" that first puts CO2 in
the bottle at a proper pressure, and then lets the beer in. This way it
is not (supposed to be) foaming and loosing all its natural CO2. I have
seen such used once, but never tried myself. Anyone else?

It is actually pretty simple: You put your beer into them, add CO2 to
keep the pressure up, and let the beer out through a tap. The devil is,
of course, in the details.

Best luck!
