I agree to that.
But take the practical look on the situation.
For other certifications there are already obvious means of preprations and it doesnot matter if the certifying authority takes the above stand.
In my opinion, a bunch of books about the subject that pretend to focus on
testing areas in order to sell -- anyone ever read a 'Linux+' book for
example? You may as well print out documentation off the Internet.
but if the "BSD certification" endeavour mean to look complete and help people there needs atleast giving some concrete information on where to find study materials. It should go beyond stating things like.
Well if the certification should be taken seriously by professionals and not
every third kid in high school, shouldn't we assume any study materials that
they may want to reference would be known to them?
Maybe I am taking too liberal of a stance on the idea of creating a quality
certification, but I have been waiting for such a cert myself for a number of
years and would be able to find any needed study materials myself.
1) BSDs have good documentation 2) There is already good documentation on the Internet for BSDs 3) Man pages are fantastic 4) Just gogle it and you will find enough info 5) Its very easy to find the right info just google it
All very viable options in my honest opinion.
and so on
If these statements are actually true why is it not easy to just prepare a list of resources and give it along with the course outlines so that people can easilylocate them ? Again please note I am not suggesting creating new study materials although feel that it won't be a very bad Idea.
It is that easy, and I would recommend that it is done on the web site.
