So your "dead wrong" claim was wrong, or meaningless,
or both, and didn't progress any discussion?

I'm not upset. Why do you think I'm upset?

Other things are important, too. Some are important
enough that one can take less money to obtain them.
I didn't see anyone claiming that money wasn't
"important" - just that it wasn't *supremely* important.

And if you job gives you loadsa money and eats your
heart, you lose.

It doesn't seem non-XP to me; what piece of XPness do
you think it violates? I'd certainly trade money off
against things like:

    * a pleasant working environment
    * a less stressful commute
    * living in a preferred country
    * sane IP strategy

If that's what you want to say, say it - then you don't
entangle your point with the plausibility (or otherwise)
of hypotheticals.

Do you mean, "if programming doesn't pay enough, some
people won't be able to afford to be programmers"?

Your "Allentown" reference is opaque to me, I'm afraid.
