BW have done escorted trips down to Eldonian Basin for some 6+ years as some of the electric swing bridges are locked up with something more substantial than a BW key. The BW crew said that one thing that p'd off the locals is waiting for an entrire boat club to go through an opened bridge, probably one reason why they have set the number to 6. To be honest, as you have to book it and after the initial excitement, I doubt whether BW will be booking that far in advance and will be bunching bookings up to get the six. It is also to stop people mooring between Maghul and Eldonian Basin...but then, would you really want to? ;-) The only (old) booked BW "attraction" that still needs booking well in advance is the Ribble Link and even then many of the booked places never materialise, or people wimp out when they find out what is involved, so you can often get a standy trip, if in the vicinity. -- Neil Arlidge NB Earnest - Out of it.
