Having recently (May) experienced this flight I would say that they also need to provide some sensibly placed rings on the downstream staging as the only rings currently are close to the lock and to get there you have to pass a vicious bypass flow which throws the boat across the tunnel/bridge hole when approaching from lock 87. As Megapixie says, if your crew are not on board then they need long legs and climbing skills to rejoin the boat at this lock. In the meantime a notice at the previous lock advising crews to stay on board till they reach the crumbling stage would be an easy and cheap help to the innocent.
