Rick, your overlay currently builds on top of CAS 3.4.12. The minimum supported version of CAS for cas-addons 1.0 and up is 3.5.1, as stated here: https://github.com/Unicon/cas-addons/blob/master/README.md
So, I'm afraid that an upgrade would be in order here (which is a good thing in of itself). As for upgrade guidelines, I am not sure that there are any written ones (someone could correct me). The biggest thing to watch for during the upgrade would be that any custom components re-defined in CAS configuration files e.g. login-webflow.xml, cas-servlet.xml, deployerConfigContext.xml get properly ported into the newest configuration files from the CAS version in question.
