Over filling should NOT lead to diesel in the bilge. It should lead to fuel coming out the vent outside the boat, not inside. Check your vent line. It could be cracked or possibly not connected. That would cause a nasty diesel smell.

Actually, the diesel smell is a bit strong, too. I found out that filling (over filling) leads to diesel in the bilge which the owner's manual warns will happen. I've cleaned the cushion covers but have not been able to get the smell out of the cushions. Any thoughts of helping the cushions smell better?
