Hi, Lesley and all the rest of you. First...a photo from this
Saturday and we head for the finish line at 7.5 yo 8 knots! Whee.
Note Mt. Baker in the background. Another crappy day sailing in
Victoria. Regarding motor: I put on a 8hp Yamaha high thrust 4 years
ago. After a year I raised the bottom of the cut out 4" and widened it a
couple on each side. Increased height allowed me to readjust vertical and
increased my speed under power a knot to the 5.5 to 6.5 range. The power
output from the motor keeps my two batteries charged -- haven't had a charger
near the boat since! I have electric start and remote. Had to put a
4" raise on the transom locker lid, but now I can sit on it and see over the
cabin top when motoring.
