I also have a cascading backstay but have it rigged from the original backstay. i.e. no split backstay. Works okay, but not as good as the split arrangement. The reason I did it that way was I wanted to have the ability to adjust, but didn't want to do the whole split arrangement (honestly I was trying to get ready for a regatta that was only a couple of days away and haven't had the money to do the whole thing correctly).
