That sounds like a great idea! I figured I had to hold the shaft somehow, but couldn't figure a way without taking off the whole pump. I'll try the thread trick. Thanks! James

I put the thread through the impeller then push the impeller on. When its on I pull the shaft out a little (just a little) with the thread and then remove the tread. I then put the ring on. No problems done 1-2-3. Have to make sure that all the tread is removed. I also tie the impeller fins down with a plastic tie and put vasiline on the whole impeller.
