Andy,

If I may.  Do yourself a favor. While you've got the mast down, Install a SPINNAKER Crane. (Catalina Direct $ 34.95).
If fits over the Masthead Truck.
IMHO, it's a very good thing to have.. And is Often forgotten.

Hi Harvey
My boat Slow"MO"tion suffered  a bit of damage.  The boat was moved to Haverstraw Marina (north Yard) and the mast was taken down to determine if it had a bend.  No bend so the boat is being repaired by Samalot.  Glass work being done inside and out;  in addition to new shrouds  and a new wind indicator and a new Windex.  While the mast is down I am going to change the mast head sheaves with the new ball-bearing type for the main halyard and a regular one for the head sail (its only used twice a year, putting the sail up and then taking it down for the winter).  Also plan to put a mast step plate under the mast step.  However, I was wondering if it would fit under the hinged Mast step.  I may order it from Catalina Direct with an understanding that if it doesn't fit I can return it (don't know there return policy).    While the mast is down I plan to change all the bulbs also.  I was wondering however, if there is a way to clean the mast with that aluminum polish.  Have you ever used it on the mast?
