TF, et al,
I genuflect before you, old friend.
I agree that a bungee cord for a Halyard .. ain't too cool..
I was just ...pretty sure I couldn't pull 1000 "jugs" on my main halyard..
I hope you understand that I was simply curious about the StaSet vs StaSet X
discussion.
I based my comment on the Graphic that New England Rope presents......
http://www.neropes.com/PleasureMarine.aspx
It's hard for me to see the advantage of only a few Tenths of a percent
between Sta Set and Sta Set X ....
And to replace them with High Tech stuff like "T-900" ... is a bit OVER
the Top for most of we Catalina 27.. "poor folks"
Oh Yea, As to "Hand" of lines...
Being an OLD ARTHRITIC guy, .....Small diameter line and hand PAIN.....
isn't an Option.....
But, I would never deny... that IT Depends on .....WHO'S .. OX is being
gored.
I suppose I'd better NOT mention that I use 5/7ths REGATTA BRAID for my
Genny Sheets.......??
ROFL....!!
As usual, Great Respect,
Ralph
(cranky old Putz )..

need a winch and you'll need to luff up....so I dont think 600-900 way
off base, do you? Probably
will never know w/o attaching a load cell to the halyard and mainsail
head.
But OK, I'll grant you 2% times 600 inches....still 7 inches of bungy cord
effect.
ugh.
