Good thought on variance, but I do not have it configured.

R3(config-router)#do show ver | inc 12.4
Cisco IOS Software, C2600 Software (C2600-ADVENTERPRISEK9-M), Version
12.4(15)T14, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2)
R3(config-router)#do show run | inc variance
R3(config-router)#

I'm also pretty sure it's not an artifact from my setup, as the output
I pasted was directly out of the solution guide!
