Whoa there missy.  Who's got legs long enough or is talented enough to
complete that disgusting act?  And if someone could, would the giraffe notice?

Bourne was very entertaining.

<g> just frustrated with what if people want to have sex with
giraffes, won't this hurt family values, why shouldn't I be able to
get married at thirteen, oops I never said that why are you putting
words in my mouth, must be a girl thing, I am offended by your
references to the 40's, I am a product of affirmative action and proud
of it kind of stuff I have been going through lately :)

I'll get over it. It's a beautiful day and I am going out there into
the sunshine. How was the Bourne Conspiracy?

Damn.  Must we be honest?  Can't we just argue the opposite position?

(Actually, I am a bleeding heart tree-hugging vegan)

I see nothing wrong with an honest debate, personally. Emphasis on honest.

    <g> Well said.

Didn't say I was perfect!  (I try not to state the obvious)

Many people dislike arguing, believing that "heated" is part of the
definition,  and prefer to debate or discuss.

    I, however, prefer arguing.

      An argument, by definition is:

"the act or process of arguing. a coherent series of statements leading
  from
    a premise to a conclusion"

In that light, what I said it true.  I said nothing about the exchange
of
invectives but rather referred to the above meaning of "argument."

      To paraphrase:

Another way to respond to my email would have been to express a lack of
understanding and ask for context or even just to express your view rather
than assuming that I was referring to some kind of heated argument.

P.S. it's "Jane, you ignorant 'slut'"

      Howie,

Perhaps they are referring to the fact that many arguments do not entail
  an
exchange of ideas, but rather an exchange of invectives.

For example, another way to respond to Monique's email would have been
to
express a lack of understanding and ask for context or even just to
  express
your view rather than adding "That quote makes no sense".  This is one
of
    the
civilities that is missing from many dialogues today.  We revert
  immediately
      to "Jane, you ignorant slot".

That quote makes no sense.  Arguments serve a purpose and are many
times
      intellectual and thought-provoking.
