My advice?

Be harsh.
Tell him almost exactly what you have vented here.
He is 21. You are his superior. Full stop.

Not saying be a bully - but tell him to calm it down.
That there is still many things he needs to learn.
It's great he is gung ho and eager - but he also needs to learn - and
that's your job - to teach him.

Done the right way - without sugar coating your responses and beating
around the bush - he may be the perfect young understudy.

DO NOT under any circumstances let him "diss" any chosen languages used
by the company. If he cannot respect your methods or standards, then he
is not fit for the job that will be paying him beer money.

Sorry if it sounds abrupt - but life is too freaking short to put up
with BS.
