There is no federal good-samaritan law, so there is no legal responsibility
for private citizens to do anything. Do you mean moral responsibility? I
agree. But some guy living in lean-to in a canyon and picking berries for
$10/hr hardly seems like the next mastermind of Al Qaeda. I'm all for
catching terrorists and other assorted wrong-doers, but this is just some
guy making a dollar working in a field all day. I think they should have
called INS and reported him, then let the authorities deal with the matter.
Running down there into that canyon like a bunch of yahoos is not how
law-abiding people act.
