That's the impression that I've gotten as well. I figured the power of Sony Pictures and their ability to "force" a lot more movies into the market would do it. HD-DVD simple didn't have that kind of power. Bummer too. i think the name "Blu-ray" is stupid. "VCR" and "DVD" were good names (yes, I realize Betamax was better, but "VCR" was a better name). HD-DVD makes sense. Oh well. As long as SOMEONE wins the war, I don't really care whom, because as soon as there are not competing formats, prices will start to drop dramatically. I ain't paying $500 or $1000 for an high def DVD player.
