have you been through Raton Pass before? If not try to do it in
daytime -- it's pretty spectacular. If you are interested in NM
history it is worth getting off 25 in Pecos to take a quick gander at
the old pueblo. It's right on the access road as I recall, a detour of
maybe three miles. Otherwise... nothing comes to mind except that the
traffic is a bit intense, and you might try to work out the timing so
that you aren't arriving at rush hour all worn out.
