Some people would not evacuate and the firefighters did the right thing and saved those people before saving property. I never said otherwise. The vast majority of people left when asked.
Half a million people evacuated, there was very little criminal activity in the wake of the fires, and in general a much greater catastrophe was avoided by the excellent work of emergency workers and the cooperation of our citizens.
