The Episcopalian church on the corner near me runs a series of
indoctrination camps for kids in the summer and one year they focused
on Harry Potter as their theme. They did Star Wars this summer.
They're taking these books and movies and somehow turning them into
Christian allegories. Weird. Mind you, they also have a labyrinth and
invite everyone to come and walk the labyrinth. Walking the labyrinth
is a specifically Pagan ritual. Of course, I live in "Pagan Central"
(the Bay Area, California) so maybe they're just trying to be
"inclusive" to attract as many sheep, er, believers as possible? :)

As for the panic-mongering around movies, yes, there are Christians -
usually the fundies, as pointed out elsewhere in this thread - who get
up in arms about anything that might be taken as a knock on
Christianity in any way (incidentally, we know America has a lot of
fundamental Christians and we - the general public - are smart enough
to decry them, but somehow many Americans seem unable to recognize
fundies-as-a-vocal-minority when they see them overseas in Islamic
countries).
