It really is. It's a nice complement to more traditional sci-fi without
being far removed from it. It's highly character driven and has a great,
well-planned continuity.

Well... 10 seasons... two direct-to-DVD movies in production... and (so far)
four seasons of an excellent spin-off series ("Stargate: Atlantis").

A show like this is perfect to do via NetFlix - pay for the service long
enough to watch all the eps then cancel. ;^)
Both "FireFly" and "Rome" were excellent as well. ;^)
