Yes Beth, 6 million people had a choice to stay home but they said they rather go live in tents in the middle of no where. I’m sorry, but give it up, the way the state of Israel was created is sad and bad. The reason you where able to meet some Palestinians there and the reason that some did stay has to do with where the location of there towns existed. People living in hifa and yafa for example, many stayed cause Jews flooding into the country did not enter those town till years after, but where the majority of the Palestinians refugees where from cities that don’t exist no more and in what once very heavilty populated palestinian towns, which makes for the large number of refugees. Not cause they hated the Jews….c’mone now, there were thousands of jews living in Palestine way before the creation of the state of Isreal, if the Palestinians hated them so much that they freely chose to leave there homes and lands and way of life to live on borders , then why didn’t they kill all the jews before 1948. They didnt leave, they ran for there lifes, millions of jews where all of a suddent running around and taken any land and any home they can get to own, no one stopped them,and Palestinians found still in those towns where killed. The state of Israel was created and some order was in place and the Palestinians where given time to evacuate, the ones who didnt run. Read the book by the founder of Israel, munich begin, he does not deny it, he is actualy proud of it, how else will you get millions of people to leave there homes other than inflict fear....
