I still get a Verizon bill for a 25 cent credit. Been over a year now. Comes every month.
I just laugh and toss it in the trash. Not going to waste my time calling them to request a 25 cent check. One day, they will figure it out. Years ago, paid off an Capital One card and went to close it. I had something like a 70 cent credit. I told them the could just keep the 70 cents and close the account. They said they could not and had to send me a check then close the account. Sometimes I do not get it... -----Original Message----- From: Jerry Barnes [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, November 18, 2008 6:40 AM To: cf-community Subject: City threatens blind woman over unpaid 1-cent bill... http://www.thesunchronicle.com/articles/2008/11/18/news/3949473.txt === Selected qutoes ===== 74-year-old blind woman has been told a lien will be put on her South Attleboro home if she doesn't come up with a penny she owes on an outstanding utility bill. The city sent Wilbur a letter dated Nov. 10 stating that if the 1 cent balance is not paid by Dec. 10, the city will assess a lien of up to $48 on Wilbur's next property tax bill. City Collector Debora Marcoccio said the bill was sent out along with more than 2,000 others as the city tries to recoup outstanding balances before resorting to putting liens on property. "It would be fiscally irresponsible for me to have staff weed through the bills and pull out any below a certain amount," Marcoccio said. " And what would that amount be?" Marcoccio, who called the whole situation "ridiculous," said the city will not waive the balance. "If there's a bill, it must be paid," she said. ===== The letter cost 42 cents to send. So the city is already at a net loss on this. The same exact thing happened to me in grad school. I got a tuition bill for 1 cent at the beginning of summer between my two years, I figured I would settle up in the fall. They sent me two more bills for 1 cent that summer. That is 99 cents in postage for 1 cent. Bureaucracy is an amazing thing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;207172674;29440083;f Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:280630 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
