I have never had an issue with BFG cards. My experience was it either
worked or it didn't and then you get it replaced with a working card. BFG
has a lifetime warranty on their cards. I made the mistake of getting an
EVGA card once and the capacitors popped on it (scarring the crap out of my
teenaged daughter...which was funny in itself as she thought she was getting
shot at...yes I know evil dad...hehehe). That card was about 6 months old.
So I go to get it replaced, a process that took another 6 months, and the
card that they replaced it with did the same thing after 6 months. I didn't
even bother getting it replaced.

You may have just had a bad card. That does happen...even to the best of
them.

One of the big diffs between BFG and the other nVidia manufacturers is that
BFG sticks to the specs from nVidia. Most of the other companies with use
cheaper parts to reduce costs. Cheaper parts usually translates into less
reliability.

My 285 was pretty expensive at 399.00...it was actually more expensive that
the barebones kit I bought hehehe. I think the 295 is 499.00. They are
killer cards and well worth it. The graphics on World of Warcraft almost
look 3D on the monitor there is so much depth and crispness...plus being on
a 120hz 22" widescreen at 1680x1050 doesn't hurt :-D

Meh, my last card was a BFG 8800GTS. Great card, but for some reason didn't
work for shit with regular NVidia drivers and BFG never f'n updated the
driver for the card worth a crap. So I was basically stuck using crappy old
drivers for a sweet card (at the time). Kind of sucked. I was however a
pretty big fan of the "How do you like my BFG?" stickers that came with the
card.
