So, because you do consulting on stuff like this we should just take
your word for it? ;-)

Please note, my questions are geared more towards trying to understand
the process rather than discredit the study.

I am asking them not because I think I know better, but because I
cannot understand how studying children over a such a varying range of
time could yield usable data.
