Going down early against Stanford was a bit worrisome, they are a really solid team. Oregon has a lot of speed and some great players but still has a sophomore QB who was making his 5th start. They are going to make some mistakes because of that and, well, they did. Fortunately, they are talented enough to get past those mistakes. The most amazing statistic, to me, is that through 5 games they have allowed a grand total of 7 points in the second half. I've been really impressed by their ability to shift the defense around and pick up on what the other team is throwing at them. They give up some points early while figuring things out but then its been pretty much lock down after that. > And when they aren't getting stupid with their uniforms, I love their > classic green uniforms and helmet with the single O on it. It is true that USC is down and there are still some folks who think Pac 10 === USC. But Oregon, Arizona and Stanford are all teams that are really, really good this year. Oregon is 5-0. Stanford is 4-1 with some decent road wins. Arizona is 4-0 and knocked Iowa out of the championship picture. Two of the teams picked to be near the bottom of the standings this season (UCLA and Arizona St.) are looking surprisingly good with Arizona St coming within a blocked extra point from knocking Wisconsin off on the road and UCLA taking out Texas in Austin. Last set of Power Rankings I saw had the PAC 10 second in the country behind the SEC. And yeah, I kind of agree with the uniform thing. It doesn't really bother me much one way or the other. I can see how the kids like it and it is definitely a marketing point but...meh. That's what happens when you do a lot of work with Nike I guess.
