Of course there is an agenda in news, else CNN and MSNBC would make changes
in order to siphon viewers from Fox. Instead, they stick with the same
format or content with a different wrapper (ie, a new host).

It is standard operating procedure in media to mimic what is successful.
When a media outlet releases a new show that becomes popular, other outlets
rush to mimic the new show. They release their own version for two reasons:
to capture viewers who can't get enough of that type of show and to water
the market down (to over expose the show genre). "Who wants to Be a
Millionaire" is the classic example.

Organizations like CNN and MSNBC have made no effort to stray from their
format, regardless of profit concerns. The only explanation is that they
believe something is more important than profit.

The only question is: "What is the agenda?"
