I want to agree. On the other hand, when a motorcyclist comes in to the ER with massive head injuries, it's not going to get shrugged off as a consequence of a bad choice, too bad. So there's a social interest. On the *third* hand, if you extrapolate from that logic, the government should regulate fast food and who knows what else. And I don't think anyone here is in favor of that.
So I guess it looks analogous to seat belt use to me. Don't like it, but think it might be needed. Wish it had not been legislated, but think that that too may have been needed.
