I believe it is very likely that there were floods of great scale in our
planet's history.

However, I do not believe that every living non-human creature on the
planet survived because one man and his family (who also survived) built a
boat to hold all the animals and whatever food they would need during the
duration of the flood.

On a related note, if only Noah and his family survived the flood (can't
recall if that is what the Bible actually states), that means that all the
stories that pre-date the Great Flood would have come from Noah.
