2 fast Athlon MP's and an MPX chipset board can be had for $650 or less if
you hunt around some. All the Atlon MP systems require DDR iirc though.

Unless a P4 Xeon is in the budget, I'd build an MP based system for a
server. If it's a personal system, it doesn't get any better than the
NForce 2 right now imo.
