I've been saying for years (specifically five years as that's how old my son is) that movies theaters are missing out on some significant business because new parents often find it hard to get out to the movies.
Looks like Loews, at least, has finally realized that: http://www.enjoytheshow.com/reelmoms/index.cfm I hope this is a start to a trend of family friendly options. One example is a club/restaurant (since, sadly, sold to new owners) near us that every Tuesday and Wednesday (slow nights for them) would bring out a few totes of old toys and play-house stuff and set it up on their small stage. Families with young kids were encouraged to come. Us parents, sick to death of McDonald's (although they are the most family-friendly place around) could finally order some calamari and a tuna-steak in a restaurant their toddlers actually enjoyed. It cost this restaurant very little and did attract business. Stores (like Ikea for example) with supervised playgrounds are starting to pop up, but supervision isn't really needed - even just an available play area where dad can sit and play while mom browses then swap so Dad can shop would be great (some Malls are doing this now, but for the most part these areas are pretty sad). In general I guess I'm just saying that people with toddlers often have money to spend and an ACHING desire to get out of the house. ;^) Jim Daviscom/ads.cfm ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm?link=t:5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm?link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Signup for the Fusion Authority news alert and keep up with the latest news in ColdFusion and related topics. http://www.fusionauthority.com/signup.cfm
