The gold standard for high-quality Star Wars is the Laserdisc release.  
Original effects - incredible sound, lots of extras... the picture's so
sharp, you can see the bubblegum and athletic shoes ILM used for far-off
space ships in the Fleet battle climax of Return of the Jedi.
