That's what it means to you, but that's not what it necessarily means. The
intent was to protect not only against other nations, but from our own.

Perhaps you have a misconception of what the AWB proscribes. Under the AWB,
it is completely legal for a person to go buy a semi-automatic, large
caliber rifle but it is illegal for them to go buy some semi-automatic,
small caliber rifles. The AWB has nothing to do with full-auto weapons.
