Good luck with that. Most mortgages cover 30 years for a reason - it's damn
hard to save the kind of money, especially while paying rent.

On the other hand, if you can afford a 15 year mortgage, or pay ahead on
that 30 year mortgage, you'll give the bank a lot less of your dough. I have
a 15 year mortgage, and Kevin pays ahead on his 30 year. We'll both own our
houses outright a lot faster than your standard mortgaged to the hilt
American. And, my house is worth over twice what I bought it for 6 years
ago.
