I personally believe that this is the root of nearly every problem at
Macromedia right now. Internally and externally. Internally, probably
mostly due to the fragmented communities of employees in the east/west coast
offices, I have found that many MM employees lack an understanding of their
own products and messaging. Externally, the MM.com website is disorganized,
hard to navigate, and riddled with inconsistencies. As has also been
brought up, a definite wall is up between developers and staff if you try to
go through "normal" channels for support. I don't typically need MM to help
me with understanding code or configuration, so all I typically need it for
is bug submissions. The only successful way I have found to submit bugs is
directly through a contact at MM or via a mailing list. As I've said on
other lists, the wishlist is not an effective bug submission channel.

Not to jump on the negative bandwagon here, but yes - I'd say Macromedia has
some pretty crippling communications problems.

Like many of you, I've been using CF for a long time (since v1.5). I want
to do everything I can to help the company survive. I really love
ColdFusion, I want to help fix things. I know people at Macromedia are
listening because they are here on this (and other) lists, but are they the
right people? Are they the people who can make real changes?

Vernon, Sean, Jesse, Mike - What else can we developers do to fix things? I
really feel like the entire developer community is becoming increasingly
frustrated about a wide variety of issues, and IMHO it's becoming a serious
PR issue for Macromedia. I think we all want to be constructive in our
criticism, but we need an outlet that can actually change the big picture
for the better.
