I've been using Updater 3 in 4 different installations and it's working just fine - great in fact. The COM implementation works as expected (finally) (in my limited testing), which is nice.
I'd be surprised to find anyone's installations dying. I can't speak for MM, but if it works on Updater 2, its going to work on Updater 3. If you haven't even migrated the app from prior versions of CF, then that's another matter. There are backward compatibility issues and I wouldn't just upgrade without extensive testing. Yes, there have been some issues with CFMX, but it is far outweighed by the improved performance and the feature set.
