I totally agree.    
another approach is to buy a car that is already finished/restored, and 
let that guy take the money loss.   Then, if you're lucky, you might be 
able to get your money back out of it.

For sure, even if you do get your money back, you'll never get paid for 
your countless hours of labor.   Even working min wage pays better than 
that.  :-)
