Don't you save your project under a specific name? I.e., did you ever use 
File->Save or Save as? If not, then I'm afraid that all is lost (if you don't 
happen to have a backup of the .bcast directory somewhere, that is). If you 
did save your project, then why don't you just open it via File->Load files?

Save backup and Load backup are really just that: to have a backup in case 
cinelerra crashes; these are *not* intended to save your work permanently.
