All that aside, does anyone have a non Cisco pointer or back way in to Cisco's site that I can use to download the latest V5.X windows XP VPN client? Any pointers would be appreciated.

Echoing Scott's request, if there is an 'off the menu' way to still access software downloads the old way, I'm all for it.

Accessibility issues aside (perfectly valid points as well), I too have just today experienced JAVA 'Download Manager' hell. I did voice my disapproval through the form there and good a polite response back pointing me to the usual JAVA version caveats. I responded back (equally politely) that I did test my browser's JAVA plugin and it claimed I was compliant. The JAVA applet still failed to load.

I subsequently coaxed the JAVA console out of hiding and asked for the log and traceback, enclosed that too.

In the meantime, I asked my friendly neighbourhood SE about download alternatives. He suggested I should open a TAC case. Oh dear. I wonder how many of those are being opened by others as I type this....?
