I flagged this as a high priority message because I think it's important for
people to know there ARE female CCIEs out there. In fact, a company in San
Diego (MC Info) built there own lab for two of their engineers to get
certified. One was male and the other was female. The female passed her
written and her lab on the first try (and the male took the lab more than
once). Just the other day I had lunch my one of my Sprint Pre-Sales/Design
engineers and he said he was bringing one of his new engineers with him for
me to meet. Sure enough, she was female and knew her WAN technologies
extremely well. The company I work for requires me to interact with many
other businesses as well, and I have encountered female network
administrators here and there. Now, cranking it down a notch to a more
junior level, the Help Desk/Senior Tech area where I work has many females
in that department. Typically, I think of CompUSA-like employees when I
think of PC Techs (you know, geeks!). But believe me when I tell you, these
girls are not some ugly pimple faced geeks, they are very professional, well
dressed, attractive, professioanl women who do their job well. I was very
impressed when I first started with this company. I think women are
becoming more and more distributed among the Systems/Network area each year,
and that is good. Also, the Director of our e-business department is
female, and making as much as a CCIE would make ($108k).

Regards,
Mark
