Another slow but solid way to upload a new image to the router is xmodem.
Put the image on the machine you have connected to the router's console,
then
xmodem <filename>
and when you have the "ready to receive message ... " use you terminal
application to send the file using the X-Modem Protocol.
Win Hyperterm, File transfer menu, send file option.
This will also load/start the IOS as soon as the upload is complete, if you
don't want it to start, add -x to the xmodem command.
This is s..l..o..w.. I repeat, usually 9600 compared to the TFTP 10000000,
but solid and reliable.
