Using what destination MAC address?

(This question, by the way, was answered earlier in the thread by Pamela
Forsyth---it works only because of proxy ARP behavior on the part of the
gateway router on the subnet.  Thanks to Pamela for the comments on why you
don't want to rely on this.)
