Cisco sells DCE and DTE cables and some of the routers are soooo smart they know if they are conneced to one or the other, i.e. you cant set the clock rate if you have a DTE cable conected:
C3640B(config)#inter ser 1/0 C3640B(config-if)#clock rate 154000 %Error: This command applies only to DCE interfaces On the above example are two V.35 cable connected b-b and I attempted to set the clockrate on the DTE.
