Try Teraterm Pro, which is an industrial-strength, stable, freeware terminal emulator that is MUCH better than HyperTerminal. See http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA002416/teraterm.html Hardware-wise, I assume you are using the standard black or blue rollover cable from Cisco, right? Are you using the RJ-45/DB-9 adapter from Cisco or a something else? What kind of laptop or PC (or other?) are you using? In my job at a Cisco reseller I have successfully connected to thousands of Cisco console ports (old and new) over the last 3 years and have never even heard of this problem. Do other experienced Cisco people see this?
