I'm a bit confused on the 'X-AspNet-Version' issue. At first the behavior
described in my first comment was accurate. I added the header with the
headers_module and everything worked fine. Later I noticed the header was
sending the value twice: "X-AspNet-Version: 1.1.4322,1.1.4322". I removed the
header addition from httpd.conf and the "X-AspNet-Version" was sent correctly.
This is what prompted my second comment.

As far as I know it still works properly, without the headers_module adjustment.
It just dawned on me that perhaps the asp.net app itself has something to do
with it, but it would seem that it would have worked properly from the beginning
since the project had already started life on IIS and worked flawlessly there.

In reference to your question I can't think there is any reason to handle
'/get_aspx_ver.aspx' specially.
