We just finished a project using Typo3. It's the most sophisticated open source CMS I've ever used. We got our 1800+ page Web site (http://www.umr.edu/) finished in only 6 months. It may be a little complicated to get the hang of it at first but it makes up for it in flexibility. :-)

only 4 Windows:
- download ImageMagick-4.2.9-nt.zip: http://www.typo3.com/?software

- download install guide:
http://lukas.oh-my-god.dk/kasper/3.5b3/installing_upgrading.pdf
this document basically describes that you have to do the following to
install it:
(apache or IIS, MySQL and PHP must be allredy installed. If you don't have
this, download
http://unc.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/phptriad/phptriad2-2-1.exe and
replace the folder c:/apache/php with the most recent php-version
downloadable from www.php.net.)
o Unzip the testsite somewhere into your document root of e.g apache
o Unizip ImageMagick to C:\php\ImageMagick (!)
o Open your browser and visit: http://localhost/your_typo3_dir/index.php
- the install-tool will apear
- go to "all configuration"
o set "[im_path_lzw]" to C:\php\ImageMagick
o set "[im_path]" to C:\php\ImageMagick
o visit: http://localhost/your_typo3_dir/typo3/index.php
log in with
user: admin
pass: password
o have a lot of fun and...

I don't suppose you have any tips on how to get started
installing it, do you - the typo3 src zip doesn't actually
have much in the way of instructions.....

Dear Emmanuel,

I would really recommend you Typo3.
It's published under the GNU public license.

Typo3 is an enterprise Content Management System with numerous extensions
such as guestbook, tip-a-friend, news etc.
Besides it comes with some so called "static templates" which you can
modify.
