That being said. A lot of the time engine manuals list total oil capacity. What would be added after an overhaul. You could have undrainable oil left behind, what might be in a cooler, turbo etc. If you change your oil when the engine is warm, some may not be completely drained back to the pan. On my Yanmar 4JHE I have a hose attached to the drain plug. I put my suction pump in the hose and such out any oil that would typically drain out of the plug.
