Good question. Alot of it is rooted in ideologies. The Pool and
Instrumentation packages can be used quite easily in all kinds of
applications. The DataSourceComponent is an Avalon component--so
you need a compatible container for it. Luckily, Excalibur does
provide one for you--and you can set it up with an XML config file.
