Maybe. So it would surely help with developing facilities such as telephony, power management, sensor integrations. And I am sure it could boost interest in enlighenment, see below: Gnome and KDE still appear to rely on the existence of a proper OpenGL implementation. I remember that about a year ago the person behind netrunner was trying to run kde on the i.MX6 Cubox-i and failed due to the vivante OpenGL blob lacking in functionality and stability. We would surely have a related issue, though for development the llvm-based renderer should be an acceptable fall-back.
Besides the GPU shortcomings, I could see most benefit for the desktop environment projects themselves, as with the gta04 they could develop on top of mainline linux, taking a heavily patched and outdated vendor kernel (which the librem 5 might use especially when starting out) out of the debug-/blame-chain. > > Can you try estimate a timeframe of realizing GTA04A5, from the moment > money is magically no longer an issue? > > > - Jonas > > P.S.
