The only problem with all of these, commercial and/or homemade, is that they contain plastic. Have you read The World Without Us? I highly recommend it. He describes how even the so-called biodegradable plastics, over time, degrade into smaller and smaller pieces that are mistaken for food by the organisms on the bottom of the food chain--and then either kill those organisms or get passed up the so-called "higher" life forms. He also says that studies have determined that about 80% of the plastics that are making such a mess of the oceans actually come from land, not from ships or other ocean-going sources.
